My Journey as an Animal Lover

About Amanda

I have always been an “animal person.” Before I even said mom or dad, I said, “Bud,” our dog’s name. This highlights the special connection I had from a very young age. This affinity for animals only grew stronger as I transitioned through different stages of my childhood. My home was filled with a variety of pets. These included dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, hermit crabs, turtles, and parrots. Each pet brought their own unique personality and charm into my life.

There was never a dull moment in our household, as the multitude of pets created a lively and loving environment that nurtured my passion for animal companionship and taught me invaluable lessons about responsibility, empathy, and the importance of caring for living beings.

I was born and raised on the beaches and in the woods of South Jersey and always had a dog by my side, if not multple. As I got older, I got bit by the travel bug and found myself in Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and New Zealand and magically always found a furfriend to spend time with, especially when going running.

Most recently I’ve adopted a retired sled-dog from Alaska named Julio and return to Alaska multiple times a year.
